Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja on Saturday presided over the opening of Uhuru Complex Sports Arena.
The complex is located at Uhuru Estate, Kariobangi South/Uhuru Ward in Embakasi West subcounty.
The sports arena has a football pitch, a basketball court, and a convertible court
The court can be used for netball, volleyball and handball games.
It also has a multipurpose hall to host indoor games like chess and table tennis among other sports.
The sports complex also has a boxing ring for boxing matches and training.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sakaja reiterated his commitment to improve and develop sports facilities in Nairobi to support the youth in advancing their talent and abilities.
"We will continue to build, develop and maintain more sports facilities in the city," he said.
"We recently opened Dandora Stadium, now it's Uhuru Complex Sports Arena and we have lined up works in Joe Kadenge Stadium, Woodley, Kihumbuini, Ziwani Githurai and Mukuru in this financial year,” Sakaja said.
The governor also revealed plans to take back all the county's sports facilities including Camp Toyoyo.
