[PHOTOS] Kenyans throng Uhuru Park for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations

The skies were blue, and the sun was out, a change in weather from the rains that have been witnessed in Nairobi in the past week.
On Tuesday, the Kenya Meteorological Department warned that most parts of the country will continue to record heavy downpours this week.

As the Muslim faithful celebrated Eid on Wednesday, families flocked to the recently reopened Uhuru Park for fun, games and socialisation.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a major religious holiday for Muslims that marks the end of the month-long fasting period of Ramadhan which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

The day symbolises that by being patient and steadfast, Muslims can earn great rewards.
