Taylor Swift’s ‘Cruel Summer’ Is Surging Up The Charts (Again)

Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” earned its distinction as one of the most unlikely No. 1 hits in U.S. history last year after it topped the most competitive songs tally four years after its release. Months after the tune conquered the Hot 100 and showed that the singer behind the cut claimed a power that seemingly no one else in the music industry can muster, the track is back on the rise on a number of Billboard charts.

“Cruel Summer” climbs on three of Billboard’s weekly rankings this frame. It also returns to another, as Americans can’t seem to get enough of Swift’s electro-pop smash.

On this week’s Hot 100, “Cruel Summer” lifts in an important manner. The tune returns to the top 10 after recently falling outside the competitive region. It leaps from No. 13 to No. 10 on the current ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S.

“Cruel Summer” is also gaining when it comes to both streaming and radio consumption. On Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart, Swift’s cut improves significantly, pushing from No. 28 to No. 21. The track also surges from No. 11 to No. 12 on the all-genre Radio Songs tally.

Swift’s “Cruel Summer” is also a bestseller once again in America. The track returns to the Digital Song Sales chart, as it sold well enough to rank among the top 25 most-purchased tunes in the country. “Cruel Summer” is back at No. 21 on that list.

According to Luminate, the Lover cut sold 2,055 copies in the past tracking week all across the country. That sum is up just under 50% from the week prior–a huge gain for a single that’s already been out and selling for months–well, years, actually.

“Cruel Summer” is on the rise just as Swift is preparing to move on from that chapter of her career–or era, in her verbiage. In mid-April, the singer-songwriter will release her new album The Tortured Poets Department. So far, she hasn’t announced a single from the project, but both the full-length and the songs featured on it are sure to take over the Billboard charts when they finally arrive.
