With the Brazilian state football championships or Estaduais, nearing an end and the start of the national league closing in, Transfermarkt has updated the market values of 594 Brazilian Série A players. Once again, the spotlight is on Palmeiras and future Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick. With an increase of €10m to €55m, Endrick received the biggest upgrade of any player in the Série A market value update, further cementing his place as the most valuable player in the Americas.
“Since Neymar, no athlete so young has made as much of an impact on Brazilian football as Endrick,” Transfermarkt Area Manager Brazil Marcos Watts said. “Not even Vini Jr and Rodrygo, who also left the country early, left such a mark. In addition to being a key player in the Brasileirão title with Palmeiras, he had a surprising start for the Seleção, scoring goals against England and Spain and giving new energy to Dorival Júnior's team.”
Endrick scored the winner in the 1-0 win over England and then added another goal in the 3-3 draw against Spain. The goal against England was historic, as Endrick became the youngest player to ever score in an international fixture at the historic Wembley Stadium. But there is more! Endrick also became the fourth youngest player to score for the Seleção. Endrick is also the youngest player to score for Brazil in almost 30 years, when a certain Ronaldo scored in a 3-0 win over Iceland. With all that in mind, it is perhaps justified that Endrick remains one of the two most valuable players born in 2006.

Brazil market values: Downgrades for Yuri Alberto and Gabriel Barbosa
While Endrick continues to impress, two Série A stars saw their market value drop. First, there is Yuri Alberto. The Corinthians star saw his market value drop by €2 million from €15 million to €13 million. “Yuri Alberto has struggled at the beginning of the 2024 season and was one of the reasons why Corinthians couldn't get a playoff spot in this season's Campeonato Paulista, despite being favorites in Group C,” Watts said. Although Alberto scored five goals in 11 Paulista games, he also failed to score in five of his initial six games. Indeed, Corinthians were one of the worst attacking teams in the tournament. Added Watts: “Under the new boss, Alberto and the Corinthians squad have shown improvement, but we'll have to wait and see whether 'Timo' is back on track.”
Alberto is one big name that has been downgraded. Another big player with a significant downgrade is Gabriel Barbosa, better known as Gabigol. The Flamengo striker saw his market value drop by an astonishing €8 million to just €9 million. It is the biggest downgrade for any player in the update and can only partly be explained by the striker’s poor performances. Barbosa is under investigation for an anti-doping fraud that could lead to a lengthy suspension of up to two years.
“In terms of performance, it was already expected that Gabriel Barbosa would suffer a decrease in his market value,” Watts said. “Given the circumstances in which the athlete finds himself after a two-year suspension for anti-doping test fraud imposed by the anti-doping authorities in Brazil, Transfermarkt understands that his expected value and demand on the market have been considerably impacted and, therefore, a more stringent reduction in his market value had to be made. The drop is drastic but can be recovered if Gabigol successfully returns to the pitch.”
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but the expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
