However, as time unfolded, it underwent a transformative evolution. What was once solely a destination for savoring nyama choma evolved into a multifaceted establishment, encompassing both a renowned eatery and a vibrant bar. The metamorphosis of Njugunas mirrors the dynamic tapestry of Nairobi’s culinary landscape, marking its enduring presence as a cherished culinary landmark throughout the decades.Back then, Njugunas began as a modest shop and butchery, catering to the needs of the Westlands community and families in the neighboring military camp. In the year 2023, Njuguna’s temporarily closed its doors. This strategic move marked the beginning of a transformative journey, as the iconic establishment underwent a thorough and visionary renovation, leaving its familiar space dormant for over a year. Today, Njuguna’s which is now called Njuguna’s Place, has emerged from its cocoon with a breathtaking metamorphosis, featuring a complete overhaul that challenges visitors to reconcile the new with the old.

Stepping into the fresh ambiance, patrons are welcomed by various changes including the introduction of a new barista crafting delightful coffee creations. Two vibrant bars, now manned by a skilled mixologist, invite guests to savor expertly crafted cocktails in a lively atmosphere. The soundscape has evolved too, with a DJ spinning smooth and soulful 90s R&B tunes live from noon onwards, setting the perfect vibe for any occasion.

Amidst these modern additions, the cherished butchery endures, albeit with a sleek and cleaner aesthetic, ensuring that patrons can still indulge in the tradition of ordering their favorite takeaway delights. By the way, the familiar sight of theref “nyama guy” in his crisp white overall will bring you a sense of comfort. He is still there and he will expertly carry that brown wooden plaque loaded with succulent meat, straight from the butcher’s kitchen to the awaiting table.

The menu has a wider selection, from delectable appetizers to savory main courses, including fish, meat, burgers and so much more. Infact they also do serve breakfast too. The restaurant opens from 6 am.
