Officials at the main kitchen in Kamandura, which prepares lunch for more than ten thousand students across Limuru, had to distribute that food to residents and vulnerable families in the area to avoid waste.
Preparation for the food had begun last night before the release of the Ministry of Education circular cancelling the Monday opening date.
However, parents have blamed the government for releasing the directive suddenly, asking for such directives to be delivered in a timely manner to avoid such inconveniences.
Students from the Kamandura primary school who had reported to the institution had to return to their homes.
